RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is launching the RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme to generate interest in and awareness about the Indian banking sector and RBI.

Under the scheme, the RBI will select a maximum of 150 young scholars through a countrywide competitive examination and award scholarship. Selection test will focus on the role and functions of RBI and banks in India and will be held in English as well as in all major regional languages.

There is no application fee. The election test will be held on March 16, 2008 at various centres across India. Desirous candidates may submit applications-online/offline- latest by January 21,2008

Commonwealth Scholarship 2008

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for nominations from India for the award of Commonwealth Scholarship tenable in the United Kingdom from October 2008.

The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of fellowship for the year 2007-08 under Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship Scheme (RGNFS) for the benefit of SC/ST candidates.

Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships 2008, University of Cambridge

Three 35,000-scholarships set up in honour of the Prime Minister of India exclusively for Indian students to read for PhD & MPhil degrees in science, technology and social sciences at the St John's College, University of Cambridge.

St John's College, where Dr Singh studied for a First in Economics in the late 1950s, is seeking to award ?35,000 scholarships to each PhD student for up to three years. These three scholarships are for the year 2008-09.

Selection criteria: The scholarship will be based on merit through a special test, in order to ensure maximum effectiveness. Applications for the scheme will be accepted from November 27, 2007 to January 31, 2008.
